Tasked with identifying, isolating, and neutralizing threats, as well as ensuring a thorough cleanup with minimal evidence, Division 13 operates with a remarkably low profile, expecting its agents to do the same. While the agency's jurisdiction primarily covers the United States, they have been known to lend their expertise and aid to other countries when the threat has the potential to spread beyond borders.

While a portion of investigations may yield mundane explanations, the true challenge lies in confronting the extraordinary cases. This is where the investigators truly earn their keep. They must craft plausible explanations for the unexplainable, leaving no loose ends. In most situations, Division 13 agents operate under the guise of being "attached" to Homeland Security, seamlessly integrating into existing structures for a covert approach. Additionally, when faced with infectious or dangerous materials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are called in to handle the cleanup.

Each team is composed of a highly skilled Supervisory Agent and three to five additional Agents. The Supervisory Agent reports directly to the Assistant to the Director of Division 13, ensuring a streamlined chain of command. Furthermore, teams may occasionally be augmented by short-term Adjuncts, specialists in fields such as medicine, science, or ancient languages, lending their expertise to specific cases.

Recovered dangerous or unknown items find their way to secure storage facilities, scattered across the United States. Some are discreetly housed within military installations, while others cleverly masquerade as ordinary locations under the guise of SecurStore, a cover company operated by Division 13 with multiple sites in every state. Once securely deposited, these items can be accessed for authorized research or relocated to permanent storage as deemed necessary.

To prepare for their dangerous missions, all agents undergo comprehensive certification in small arms, with many also receiving training in other weapons. Hand-to-hand combat skills are strongly recommended, equipping agents with the necessary tools for close-quarters engagements.
